When I gave birth the experience exceeded all my expectations and was one of the most beautiful days of my life!
After the very traumatic birth of my first child I was convinced birthing shouldn’t have to be so interventionist. I was looking for a way to make birthing feel more natural and empowering and [...]
As the course progressed I let go of my fear, began to trust my body and even started to look forward to a natural birth.
Allison is a wonderful, gentle, supportive teacher and her HypnoBirthing course was absolutely the best way to prepare for my daughter’s birth, completely transforming my expectations and therefore probably my [...]
That’s the beauty of HypnoBirthing; it’s highly effective and adaptable to whatever plan you and your partner choose.
My husband and I decided we wanted a HypnoBirthing early on in the pregnancy. As we completed the course with Allison, the gentle atmosphere of the class had us looking forward to and excited about birthing [...]
I began delivering babies in 1983. I believed in the use of drugs to manage obstetrical pain. I saw lots of complications including babies with compromised breathing in spite of my best efforts to use good sound medical judgment. I believed that Epidurals were a medical blessing. I had a 25% C-Section rate.
I ended up having to have a c-section because I went to 42 weeks and my baby was in distress, but I went into the entire situation with quite a bit of knowledge about what was going to happen, what my choices were.
“This was the most amazing experience! I won’t ever have another baby without it! I’m actually considering having more because of it.”
When we started the HypnoBirthing class I read the stories and watched the videos of all these mums who, using this technique, had wonderful, apparently “easy” births and thought “gosh, this is amazing… does it work!?” It took me very little time to realize that HypnoBirthing was a technique that worked and worked well. The combination of breathing technique, visualization, confidence in the fact that, yes, we could do it made all the difference. We did our exercises virtually every evening for 3 months before the birth and very quickly Sophie would go in a deep state of relaxation but at the same time completely in control which to me, was the key.
This birth story is about our 3rd child – Christian Luke Robinson. My due date was 10/8. At 11:30 pm of that night I was complaining that nothing exciting happens to put me into labor, my surges usually just start. On 10/9 at 12:30 am as I was headed to the bathroom my water actually released! I was really excited even as my surges started strong – 5 minutes apart 15 minutes after my water broke. I really wanted to trim the labor time down to my wish time of 6 hours
My labor started early in the morning, and was pretty much unaware of it. When the surges started to get stronger I just used the breathing I learned and focused. At about 7pm I was 7/8 cm, from then got into the pool, kept my focus through what Cath had taught me and breathed my baby out, it didn’t hurt hardly at all, it was quite orgasmic in a word! it felt nice. I caught him and brought him to my chest. I felt amazing, I’d done it, just lying there cuddling my new son, I burst into tears of joy!.
I have celebrated my HypnoBirthing baby’s first birthday today (October 16, 2010), and what an amazing journey we have been on together. I had an amazing time throughout my pregnancy and had a beautiful birth thanks to all the techniques I learned.
